Free Motion Friday – Birgit’s Quilt

FREE MOTION FRIDAY!

FREE MOTION FRIDAY!

Happy Friday! I got to spend all of yesterday quilting, so today I’m all set for another two days of work 😀

QUILT

Today we’ve got Birgit’s quilt. Those borders! There is nothing I love so much as a large open border 😀 Or any other space for that matter.

1

So , to start. I echoed the inside of each of the flowers.

2

Then filled the light blue space with a fairly dense loop. I’ve been really enjoying these loops lately, as a less boring alternative to just straight lines all the time when I’m looking for something dense.

3

Then, inside the flowers, some continuous curve.

4

And more continuous curve in the medium blue flowers. The continuous curve looks a bit wonky drawn out here, but makes a really great texture when it’s stiched out.

5

Then, some straight lines in the navy blue areas. 6Then, two options for borders. The more traditional feathered border, or the funkier border where I have repeated the quilting from the inside of the quilt onto the outside of the quilt.

Anyway, that’s it for me! Remember, if you want your quilt to be a part of Free  Motion Friday (and you know you do!) send a picture of it kathleen(at)kathleenquilts.com

Later days!
Kathleen.
