Free Motion Friday - Doris's Quilt

Happy Friday!

Today we have Doris's Quilt.

I started with a simple Ribbon Candy design in the wider spaces of the pieced blocks. I seriously love ribbon candy -- I do it so often that I can actually recognize the sound a machine makes stitching the design with a stitch regulator. I can hear my mom's machine from my office, and can tell when she's doing Ribbon Candy.

In the smaller spaces, I did a simple straight line down the center of the smaller strips. I think this will contrast nicely with the curvyness of the Ribbon Candy.

In the un-pieced blocks, I started by echoing a box inside of each block, to really separate this section from the pieced blocks.

I simply filled each block with a fill design -- I'd probably go for swirls, but whatever design is your favourite could easily go in here!
