Free Motion Friday - Andrea's Sew Kind Of Wonderful Quilt
Happy Friday!
Today, Andrea has a Sew Kind of Wonderful quilt she made:
I started by quilting in these dot-to-dot diamonds, going from the points of the mellon to the center part of the center squares-- this way I can use my piecing to have everything look perfect.
Then, I added another layer of dot-to-dot in the diamonds
Which I then filled in. I went with a dense back forth, becaue I really want to quilted vs. unquilted parts to pop.
Then I added this "X" to my center points
And then some dot to dot from the outer points of the diamonds to the center of the "X".
Then, again, another layer of dot-to-dot, going from the diamond point, to the inside of the "X" to the adjacent diamond point... It looks a bit of a mess in this photo, but I promise, it would be awesome :D
Then, one last fill in those dot-to-dots, to emphasise that star shape. Its a bit hard to see what's happening, but when combined with the filling I did in the diamond, I always want an unfilled section next to a filled section.
Then, some dot to dot in the center squares, and in the mellons, the same thing, or maybe just some stitch-in-the-ditch.
That's it for this week! Remember, if you want your quilt to be a part of Free Motion Friday, email a picture of it to kathleen(at)kathleenquilts.com! I can't wait to see your quilt!
Later days, Kathleen.
