Free Motion Friday - Kismet Quilt
Happy Friday peeps! It is one of those weeks where all of a sudden I was like "EEP! FMF! I NEED TO GET ON THIS!" So I decided to go with a quilt I had already quilted, so you can see how I went about it :D
I started by echoing 1/4" in from these medallion shapes.
Then echoing 1/2" in from that, and 1/4" from that.
Then I filled in the 1/2" space with bubbles,
And the rest of the white space with 1/4" spaced lines.
You can watch a video of me quilting the background on my APQS Lucey HERE.
In the center I did these swirling boxes-- you start with this shape, and keep repeating it until you end up with this:
Which was a lot of fun, and looks fabulous.
The, some dot-to-dot in the navy,
And then the background was also filled with 1/4" spaced lines, looking like they were a continuous line of stitching with the white-- however, I had changed thread colours, so they were not continuous.
Then, in a move that should surprise no-one, I added Kathleen's Magic Shape.
In the busier blocks, I just left it as the bracket shape, and echoed. However, in the plainer blocks, I went ahead and added the feathers.
And that's it! This one was a lot of fun!
Remember, if you want your quilt to be a part of FMF, email a picture of it to kathleen(at)kathleenquilts.com. I can't wait to see your quilt!
Later days, Kathleen.
