Free Motion Friday - Debra's Quilt
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to my BC teaching trip. It was a bit crazy, but I had the most fun! My next teaching dates are QuiltCon in February 2017, Quilt Canada (Mississauga Ontario) in June 2017, and Norway in June 2018.
On to FMF -- today we have Debra's quilt.
All that white space just makes me drool a little bit. Oh man.
The first thing I did was traced the block. If I was actually quilting this, not just drawing, I would take a piece of paper or template plastic or whatever I had handy, and I'd make myself a template the same size as the block .
Then, I'd mark out those templates to continue the pattern a bit wider through the quilt. On this picture it looks like they go on top of the piecing, but in real life I'd have them going UNDER the piecing -- so no lines overtop of the applique, the ghost blocks would be sitting underneath.
Then, I'd fill the rest of the space with whatever background fill I liked that week.
Likely those larger open oval/squares would need more quilting in them, so I'd do some concentric echoes going into them.
So that's Debra's quilt! Remember, if you'd like to be a part of FMF email a picture of your quilt to kathleen(at)kathleenquilts.com.
Later days! Kathleen.
