What Kathleen's been Up To.
Things have been a bit quiet on the blog. Mainly because things have not been quiet in my life. First, the long overdue pictures of Eye Candy Quilts Kismet Quilt.
I'm pretty happy with it. I didn't get super awesome pictures as I only managed to finish it less than 12 hours before I left for market, and still had to pack and sleep and eat and all that stuff.
Then there was Quilt Market. Which I seriously love. Market just makes me so excited to be a part of this industry, and makes me re-invigorated for the upcoming year. I get so inspired and excited, just like, man, so much love.
Market was in Minneapolis, which is where it was 5 years ago too. And I couldn't help but think about how when I was in Minneapolis then, I had just finished university, and so Mom and Dad took me to market before I started work. And at one point during the weekend I just started bawling in the restaurant we were having lunch in because I had to go start working at this job I hated, and wasn't going to get to be a part of this amazing industry.
And now here we are. I work in a quilt store, I longarm quilt, I blog... If I had known then just how great my life would be, and just how involved with the hole thing I would be, and not even that long into the future... well that would have been better than crying in the restaurant probably.
And then, right when I got home from market, it was off to retreat-- 4 days of nothing but great weather, scenery, and of course quilting.
I got two quilt tops finished, and am pretty in love with both. I didn't book any client quilts for July and August (though, I have slowly been eroding this vacation from both ends as people have deadlines to get their quilts finished) so I'm really hoping to get these to quilted this summer. Plus one of Dad's I promised to quilt for him.
More reflection while I was there though... I started Instagram two years ago at retreat... not having any idea how much it would affect and change my life. For the better. So I've been feeling pretty thankful for that too.
While I was at retreat Sparrow Studioz announced the dates I'm going to be teaching for them! Be sure to take a look at that because I'm pretty excited about it -- It's going to be awesome!
So now I'm back home again, and things are slowly settling back into normal. I'm quilting this butterfly quilt for Glenna right now. And having so much fun while doing it :D
Anyways, that's it for me! Later days! Kathleen.
