Free Motion Friday - X & + Block

Free-Motion-Friday Happy Friday Peeps! My computer crashed exactly 7 times drawing FMF today, but I powered through for you guys :D.

Today I'm sharing How I did the quilting on the X&+ blocks on this quilt. Because I was so happy with how they turned out. I want to do an entire quilt of these blocks now so that I can quilt them like this!

1

This is a X&+block.

2

I started by marking the center of the + and the centers of the ends of the + as well.

3

Then I found a curved ruler that gave me the right curve (on this quilt, The Quilted Pineapple 15) and connected the corner to the center.

4

Then I continued my way around, making petals.

6

Then, using the same curved ruler, I echoed 1/4" away from the petals. 7

I used the same curved ruler to connect the corners of the grey squares to the center marking I had made.

8

I echoed 1/4" from these stitching marks, then filled with some loops. I also filled the petals with feathers.

Thats this week! This design went super fast, so I hope you get a chance to try! If you'd like your quilt to be a part of FMF, email a picture of it to Kathleen(at)kathleenquilts.com

Later days! Kathleen.
